Part 1: The "Golden Fix" (Use Chrome & Clear Your Cache) ๐
90% of weird platform behavior is caused by your browser. Before you do anything else, try these two steps.
Step 1: Use Google Chrome
For the best, smoothest, and most secure experience, we strongly recommend using Google Chrome as your browser for ChalkTalk.
Step 2: Clear Your Cache & Cookies
If ChalkTalk seems slow or glitchy, your browser might be clogged with old, temporary data. Clearing it is like giving your browser a refreshing restart.
How to Clear Your Cache:
In Google Chrome:
Click the three dots (โฎ) in the top-right corner.
Go to "Clear browsing data". (You can also find it under More tools).
Select a time range (like "Last 24 hours" or "All time").
Check the boxes for "Cookies and other site data" and "Cached images and files."
Click "Clear data."
In Mozilla Firefox:
Click the three lines (โก) in the top-right corner.
Go to "Settings" > "Privacy & Security."
Under Cookies and Site Data, click "Clear Data."
Check both boxes and click "Clear."
In Microsoft Edge:
Click the three dots (ยทยทยท) in the top-right corner.
Go to "Settings" > "Privacy, search, and services."
Under Clear browsing data, click "Choose what to clear."
Select "Cookies and other site data" and "Cached images and files."
Click "Clear now."
Part 2: Problem: I Can't See My Profile or Log Out Button! ๐
The Problem: You're trying to log out, but your profile icon (with your initials) in the bottom-left corner is completely missing.
The Cause: Your web browser is zoomed in too high, which pushes the icon off the visible screen.
The Fix: Zoom Out!
Click the three dots (โฎ) menu in the top-right of your browser.
Find the "Zoom" setting.
Click the minus button (-) once or twice to zoom out.
You can also use the keyboard shortcut: Ctrl + - (on PC) or Cmd + - (on Mac).
Part 3: Problem: My Lesson Slides Won't Click! ๐ฑ๏ธ
The Problem: You're in a lesson, but you can't click the arrow to advance the slides, or the "full-screen" button isn't working.
The Cause: This bug can happen on screens with very low resolution, especially when using older VGA projectors.
The Fix: Adjust Your Screen Resolution
Adjust your computer's screen resolution to be 1024 x 768 or higher.
PC Users: Click here for instructions.
Mac Users: Click here for instructions.
In many cases, simply pressing the spacebar can also advance the slides.
Workaround for VGA Projectors: If this happens during a training, try this:
Unplug the projector.
Refresh the ChalkTalk page.
Click the "full-screen" icon.
Once the slides are in full-screen mode, reconnect the projector.
Part 4: Problem: My Worksheets Aren't Loading! ๐
The Problem: You're trying to open a printable worksheet, but it's just a blank page or won't load.
The Cause: A browser extension is interfering. The most common culprit is the Adobe Acrobat extension in Google Chrome.
The Fix: Disable the Extension
In Chrome, click the Extensions icon (a puzzle piece ๐งฉ) in the top-right corner.
Select "Manage Extensions."
Find the "Adobe Acrobat" extension in your list.
Click the blue toggle switch to turn it off.
Go back to ChalkTalk and refresh the page. The worksheet should now load perfectly.
Part 5: Advanced Fix: Clearing Local Storage (For Blank Screens)
If you're seeing a totally blank white screen and clearing your cache (in Part 1) didn't help, you can try clearing your "Local Storage." This is a more advanced step.
Press the F12 key on your keyboard to open the Developer Tools.
Find and click on the "Application" tab at the top.
On the left-hand menu, find "Storage" and click the arrow next to "Local Storage."
Right-click on the ChalkTalk website URL and select "Clear."
Refresh the page.
Happy learning!
