What is the Intervention Tab?

As a teacher, you probably want to see how each student is doing in your class and learn more about why they are improving or not. Typically, you would go back to and check students who showed up to class and students who did not, the grades students got on certain quizzes or tests, and a lot more to try to get a sense of what needs to change for some students to improve, and what is working with other students who are doing very well.

The Intervention tab does it all for you on ChalkTalk! It is a mini report for you to refer to to learn more about how each student is doing in the selected lesson, whether they need to practice more on a specific topic or even give you a sense of a teaching style that works better for some students. You can also assign students assignments to alert the students that there is something they need to get to ASAP!

How to Get to the Intervention Tab

To get to the Intervention tab, from the Dashboard > click on Lessons > click on the Subject > click on Intervention as shown below:

What Does Each Column in the Intervention Tab Mean?

You may be wondering what each column in the Intervention tab means. Let's go ahead and take a more in-depth look at each column and what it represents.

  1. Name

    1. This column shows the name of each student in this section. This is where you would want to begin looking horizontally to see a report for the selected student.

  2. Lesson

    1. This column shows the attendance that you mark when you are teaching the lesson in the Lessons tab. This tells you whether the student attended this lesson or not, which helps you understand your students' performances in the lesson.

  3. Group Activity (Individual)

    1. This column shows the student's score on the individual portion of the Group Activity. This score is helpful to compare with the score they get in the next column - Group Activity (Group) - which we will discuss in the next section below.

  4. Group Activity (Group)

    1. This column shows the student's score on the group portion of the Group Activity. This score is helpful to compare with the score they got during the Individual stage of the Group Activity. You will be able to identify which students improved with the group discussion and which did not.

  5. Adaptive Practice

    1. This column displays the student's total score for all Adaptive Practices completed. Refer to this section to learn more about how to view each Adaptive Practice's score rather than the accumulative.

  6. Skill Level

    1. This column shows the student's Skill Level for the selected lesson. Let's dive deeper into what this Skill Level is based on.

      1. If the student has not completed the Adaptive Practice but has a Skill Level, you may wonder what that Skill Level reflects. The answer would be the questions on the selected lesson that came on the Placement Test!

      2. If the student completed the Adaptive Practice once, the Skill Level would be calculated based on their score in the Adaptive Practice.

      3. If the student completed the Adaptive Practice more than once, the Skill Level would be calculated based on their score in the last Adaptive Practice that they completed.

  7. Time on Task

    1. This column shows the time the student spent on the Adaptive Practice!

  8. Assign

    1. This column allows you to assign the Adaptive Practice to each student.

NOTE: When you click on the "ASSIGN" button, you are assigning the "Adaptive Practice" to your students. Your students DO NOT have an Intervention tab and, therefore, will not be assigned an Intervention

KEEP IN MIND: Students are able to access the Adaptive Practice at all times, even when not assigned. The only difference that you will make by clicking the Assign button is notifying them that they need to complete it!

How do I view a student's score for each Adaptive Practice they complete?

You probably now know that we have a finite number of questions in our question bank of the Adaptive Practice for the students to improve their Skill Level through.

Each Adaptive Practice only contains 5 questions. However, the score under "Adaptive Practice" in the "Intervention" tab shows the cumulative score for each student. So, how do you see what the scores are for each of those practices? Let's take a look below:

From the Intervention tab, you will notice that the score under "Adaptive Practice" is clickable once you hover over it! You can click on the score to see the different Adaptive Practice that the student has taken. You will also be able to review their answers by clicking on Review Answers.

What does the Assign do

We can see an "Assign" button under the "Actions" column on the Intervention tab. You may be questioning what that button assigns, and where it shows up for the students.

  • When you click Assign, the Adaptive Practice for the selected Lesson is assigned to the selected student.

Note: This is optional, and recommended for students with a skill level of 3 or lower

  • Students will then have the Adaptive Practice - for that lesson that you assigned - pop up as an Assignment on their Dashboard as soon as they log into ChalkTalk as shown below

  • They will also have red marks to guide them right to their Assignments when they click on the Lessons tab
