Your guide on how to come prepared for a ChalkTalk training!

Welcome to the ChalkTalk onboarding training! We're thrilled that you're about to embark on your teaching journey using ChalkTalk. In this article, we've got some recommendations just for you. We'll cover important things like having your own computer, getting interactive with polls, and why turning on your camera is a game-changer. Whether you're a seasoned teacher or brand new to the ChalkTalk family, we're here to support you every step of the way. Let's dive in and make your classroom the place to be (:

Before attending the ChalkTalk onboarding training, we highly recommend the below:

  1. Come Prepared: Before the training begins, take some time to familiarize yourself with the training agenda and the pre-boarding materials provided. Come prepared with a positive mindset, a notebook or digital device to take notes, and any specific questions or concerns you may have. Being mentally and physically prepared will allow you to make the most of the training experience.

  2. Utilize Individual Computers/Laptops: Try to take full advantage of an individual computer or laptop for the training. Having your own computer empowers you to actively engage with the training content, practice hands-on activities, and explore the digital resources available.

  3. Actively Engage in Interactive Training: Embrace the interactive nature of the training sessions. Actively participate in discussions and take advantage of features like polls, quizzes, and breakout sessions to enhance your learning experience. Take advantage of the opportunity to network and collaborate with your fellow teachers. Engage in discussions, share ideas, and build relationships that can support you throughout your teaching journey. Connect with colleagues who have similar interests or those who may have experience in areas you wish to develop.

  4. Turn On Your Camera: We highly recommend that you turn on your camera during the training sessions. Enabling your camera fosters a sense of connection and engagement, allowing trainers and fellow participants to see your reactions and non-verbal cues. It creates a more personal and inclusive learning environment, enhancing the overall training experience for everyone involved.

  5. Keep an Open Mind: Approach the training with an open mind, embracing new ideas and perspectives. Understand that the onboarding training is designed to equip you with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in your role. Be receptive to different teaching methodologies, strategies, and technologies introduced during the training. Be open to incorporating technology into your teaching toolkit and view it as an opportunity to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.

  6. Seek Clarification: If you encounter any concepts or instructions that are unclear during the training, don't hesitate to seek clarification. Ask questions, either during the training sessions or through designated communication channels. Remember, the training is designed to support your understanding, and trainers are there to provide guidance. Seeking clarification ensures you have a solid foundation to build upon.

  7. Reflect and Apply: Take time to reflect on the training content and consider how you can apply what you've learned in your classroom. Reflecting on the training sessions helps solidify your understanding and identify specific strategies or techniques you can implement. Consider how you can adapt and personalize the concepts to suit your teaching style and the needs of your students.
