In this article, we will go over our reset and reset timer features, where you can extend your student's time while administering tests.

Welcome to our guide on the reset and reset timer functions! Designed to optimize student assessments, these functions offer the convenience of resetting scores and timers while preserving student responses, granting additional testing time to meet individual needs.

The Reset and Reset Timer features are found within the test section of the ChalkTalk application. Select Exams in the main navigation, and then choose one of the specific exams in the Test Sessions list. Placement Test, Mid Test, and Exit Test are the standard options you will see.

To work with the Reset Timer and Reset features for your class or for individual students, you must first unlock the relevant exam section. Learn more about unlocking tests here.

Reset Timer

The reset timer function is a game-changer for educators seeking to accommodate students' individual needs by providing additional testing time without compromising data integrity within an unlocked exam section.

Resetting the timer means it will be set back to its original value. So if it was a 35-minute exam section you reset, the student(s) will immediately have an additional 35 minutes, counting down from the moment of reset.

Note that the timer will be reset for in-progress exams only. If any students did not begin or already submitted the exam, no effect will take place.

To reset the timer for one student:

  1. Open the Tests tab, then choose the Test Session (Placement, Mid, or Exit test).

  2. Next to the Tests Section, click on the List Icon to expand the section and view the student's list.

  3. Click on the Reset Timer button next to the student you want to reset the exam timer for.

  4. You will get a notification message indicating that the timer was reset successfully.

To reset the timer for all students:

  2. Click on the Reset Exam Timer icon next to the Exam Section.

  3. Once you do that, you will get a message, confirming that the timer has been reset for exams in progress.

Reset Test

This feature enables you, as a teacher, to reset the exam time and score for any or all of your students within an unlocked exam section, without losing any responses/ answers.

Please note that you can only Reset submitted exams.

To reset the exam for one student:

  1. Open the Tests tab, then choose the Exam Session.

  2. Next to the Exam Section, click on the List Icon to expand the section and view the students' list.

  3. Click on the Reset button next to the student you want to reset the exam for. Please note that while a student is taking an exam, the Reset button for that student is inactivated, so you can't click on it. After the student submits the exam, the button will turn active.
