In this article, we'll go over what a review class is, how to navigate to it, and how to review your students' answers.
What are Review Classes?
At some point in our academic journey, we've all faced the challenge of mastering topics in a subject while struggling with others. When it came time to prepare for an exam, we often found ourselves relying solely on our memories to pinpoint the areas that needed the most attention.
However, with ChalkTalk's innovative Review Classes feature, this process has been revolutionized to benefit students in remarkable ways. ChalkTalk takes a personalized approach to learning by revisiting each student's weaknesses, offering them a targeted opportunity to tackle and grasp the topics they have not yet fully mastered. In essence, Review Classes deliver content that is uniquely adaptive to the needs of every student, enhancing the learning experience and empowering them to succeed.
Which lessons are included in the Review Classes?
To ensure the Review Classes shown to your students address the topics you've already taught, and the student's weakest areas, always make sure to take attendance when you teach a lesson.
Taking attendance is the only way to trigger our adaptive algorithm based on a student's performance.
Review classes are available only for students who finished practicing at least 3 topics or have taken a full-length test.
How to access the Review Classes?
You can access your Review Classes from the calendar or the Lessons icon. Please see the below instructions to access it from the Lessons icon.
From the Lessons icon
Log in to your ChalkTalk account
Open the Lessons tab then click on the subject (Math in our example).
Open the drop-down menu and choose Review Classes.
Select the Review Class, which will show the list of students in your section. For the students who opened the Review Class (even if they didn't start work on it), you will see the three practices they have been assigned based on their top three calculated weaknesses.
How to add a Review Class?
The Review Classes that show up are scheduled automatically by the pacing. If you'd like to add new Review Classes please check the video below:
How to review your student's answers?
You can tell that a student has finished a practice if there is a score next to their name. The time on task will be displayed as well, representing the cumulative time used by the student to answer the three assigned practices.
You can also click on the score to review the student's answers. Once you click on the score, you will be redirected to the following page.
Click on Review Answer and you will be able to check the answer chosen by the student as well as the correct answer for all of the questions in the practice.
You can check this article to understand the Review Classes from your students' perspective (why Review Classes are useful, how they can practice, and how they can review their answers). Also, please feel free to share that article with any of your students!
