This guide is specifically for manually rostered teachers who are creating a ChalkTalk account for the first time, particularly if you missed your initial onboarding training session. It will walk you through the process of joining your school's course so you can create your own class sections.

Part 1: How to Get Your Course Access Code

When you first create your account, you will see a pop-up screen asking you to "Create or Join a Course" or "Join a Section." To proceed with setting up your own classes, you must first join your school's main course.

To do this, you will need a Course Access Code (this may also be called a subscription code). This code is not provided automatically.

  • You must reach out to your school's designated Account Manager or contact the ChalkTalk support team directly via email at support@chalktalk.com to request your code.

Part 2: How to Use the Code to Join Your Course

Once you have received your access code, you can use it to join the course. There are two ways to do this:

Method A: Using the Initial Pop-Up

  1. On the pop-up screen that appears after you create your account, select the Create or Join Course option.

  2. Enter the access code exactly as it was provided to you.

  3. Submit the code to join the course.

Method B: Using the Navigation Bar

If you have already closed the initial pop-up screen, you can still join the course at any time.

  1. Click on the tab labeled Join Section or Create Course from the main navigation bar on the left side of your screen.

  2. Enter the access code in the field provided.

  3. Submit the code.

Part 3: Next Steps

Once your code is accepted, you will have successfully joined your school's course. You will then be directed to the next screen to begin creating your individual class sections and can continue setting up your account from there.
