Part 1: πŸ—“οΈ Before You Begin: How to Edit Test Sessions

How to Edit or Move a Test Session:

  • From the Calendar Tab:

    1. Go to the "Calendar" tab.

    2. Drag and drop the test session to the new date. Easy!

Watch the video below to see how the test can be changed from the "Calendar" tab:

Part 2: πŸš€ Step-by-Step: Administering the Test

Ready to start? Here's the core workflow.

Step 1: Find the Test

  1. Log in and click the "Tests" tab on the left-hand sidebar.

  2. Click the Test you wish to administer (e.g., "Test 1"), then select the test sitting (e.g., "Math Module 1").

  3. You will now see your student roster for that test.

Step 2: Unlock the Test

  1. Click the blue "Unlock Test" button in the upper right-hand corner.

  2. You'll be prompted to set an Auto Lock window. This is how long the "Unlock" button will stay active. Make sure you set this window for longer than the test duration (e.g., 24 hours).

  3. Auto-submit (Optional): You can also choose to auto-submit the exam when the unlock window ends.

    • Heads Up! If Auto-submit is ON, a student who starts 10 minutes before the window closes will have their test force-submitted after 10 minutes. If it's OFF, the test will just pause, and they can resume later.

Part 3: ⏱️ Managing the Test: Reset vs. Extend Timer

Once the test is live, you have two key tools for managing individual students: Reset and Extend Time. These features are designed to help you accommodate individual needs without losing student data.

When to use EXTEND TIMER:

This function adds more time to a student's in-progress exam. It does not erase their answers.

  • Example: A student has an IEP for extra time, or they are a slow reader and have 5 questions left when the timer runs out. Use Extend Timer to give them the extra minutes they need to finish.

  • How to do it (Individual Student):

    1. In the Tests tab, click the list icon to expand the student roster.

    2. Find the student and click the "Extend Timer" button next to their name.

    • Note: This only works for exams that are in-progress.

  • How to do it (All Students):

    1. Click the "Reset Exam Timer" icon (the clock) at the top of the roster. This will extend the time for all students who are still working.

When to use RESET TEST / PROGRESS:

This function resets a student's timer and score but preserves their saved answers. This is for special circumstances.

  • Example: A student begins a test, answers one question, and is then called to the office. You want them to restart fresh tomorrow. Use Reset Progress so they can take the test from the beginning.

  • How to do it:

    1. In the Tests tab, expand the student roster.

    2. Find the student and click the "Reset" button (or "Reset Progress") next to their name.

    3. Confirm the action. The student's status will change to "Not Started," and they can take the test again.

    • Note: This only works on exams that have been submitted or are complete.

Important Note: If a student's test has already been submitted (either by the student or due to the time expiring), you can still unlock the test for them. You can then grant them extended time or reset their progress as needed. Extending their time will change their status to Paused, while resetting their progress will change their status to Not Started in the Status column of the roster.

Part 4: 🧐 What the Student Sees (A Teacher's View)

It's helpful to know what your students are experiencing. Here is their view at each stage:

1. When a Test is Unassigned: This is the view students have in their "Tests" tab when no test is active.

2. When a Test is Assigned: Once you click "Unlock Test," this is what students will see on their dashboard.

3. The View While Taking the Test: This is the interface they will use to read questions and select their answers on the bubble sheet.

4. After Submitting the Test: This is the confirmation screen a student sees after they have submitted their test.
