Have you ever had a student complete a test or an adaptive practice, but it doesn't show as completed on your teacher dashboard? Or perhaps a student reports they cannot see an assignment that is visible to the rest of the class?

When there is a mismatch between what a teacher sees and what a student sees, the issue can almost always be traced back to one simple cause.

The Common Cause: The Student is in the Wrong Section

Often, a student may be enrolled in multiple ChalkTalk sections (e.g., one for SAT Prep and another for a Math class, or sections from previous semesters). If the student is logged in and viewing the wrong section, they will not see the correct assignments, and any work they complete will not be reflected in your current section's dashboard.

How to Fix It: A Quick Check for Students

If you experience this issue, please ask your student to perform the following check:

  1. Have the student log in to their ChalkTalk account.

  2. Ask them to look at the top of their dashboard to see which section is currently active.

  3. If they are in the wrong one, they can click on the section name to reveal a dropdown menu of all sections they are enrolled in.

  4. Instruct the student to select the correct, active section for your class.

Once they switch to the correct section, the page should refresh, and the correct assignments and progress should now be visible on both their end and yours. This simple step resolves the vast majority of view-related issues.
