Part 1: How to Assign Practice (From the Dashboard) π―
This is the best way to assign practice to your whole class at once.
Log into your ChalkTalk account.
From the Dashboard, select Practice Details.
Click on Lessons then select the lesson you want.
To assign practice, select the square icon next to a student's name.
To mass assign to all your students, select the square icon next to "Student Name". A blue "Assign" button will appear.
Part 2: How to Assign Practice (From the Lesson Tab) π―
This method is great if you are already inside a lesson.
From the Dashboard, select the Lesson icon on the left-hand side.
Select your Subject.
Find the lesson you want to assign practice in and click on it.
Select the Intervention tab for that lesson.
Under the Actions column, select the "Assign" button for the students you want to assign practice to.
Part 3: How to Guide Students to Their Practice β‘οΈ
Wondering what to tell your students? Hereβs where they can find the practice you just assigned.
For English / Writing & Language / Math: After completing a lesson, students can click on the "Adaptive Practice" tab right inside the lesson to start practicing.
For Reading: After completing all the lessons in a unit, students can scroll down to the end of the unit and click on the practice found there.
Part 4: How to Check Practice Details & Skill Levels π
Now that your students have done the practice, it's time to check their progress!
From the drop-down list under your school's name, select the section you want to view.
On the Dashboard, you'll see Practice Details. Click it.
If you teach multiple subjects, scroll down to see the drop-down list and select the subject you want to check.
You will see a list of all the lessons. Select a lesson to see each student's details for that topic.
Part 5: What Do the Skill Levels Mean?
Our skill levels range from 1 to 5. Hereβs what each level represents:
Level 1: Needs Support
Level 2: Approaching Proficient
Level 3: Proficient
Level 4: Strongly Proficient
Level 5: Mastery

After checking your Practice Details, what if you see students who are struggling?
We recommend that any student with a skill level of 3 or below be assigned an extra practice session. You can do this by following the steps in Part 1 or Part 2 to re-assign the practice.
