Part 1: What is the Placement Unit Assessment? π€
Instead of a static test, this assessment uses Adaptive Practice to evaluate student skills specifically for the upcoming unit.
Adaptive: Questions change based on student performance, giving a precise measure of their current level for that unit's skills.
Focus: It identifies what a student already knows and where they need to focus within the upcoming unit.
Part 2: How to Administer the Assessment π§βπ«
Navigate: Go to the Lessons tab and click the first lesson tile for the unit (this serves as the entry point).
Lesson Tab: Although this tab may look like a regular lesson, you will see a slide or a screen directing you to the Practice feature. This indicates that the assessment is not a traditional lesson to be taught, but a tool for measuring student knowledge.
Adaptive Practice Tab: Click the "Adaptive Practice" tab.
(Optional) Preview Skills: Before assigning, click the dropdown arrow (Λ ) to see the list of skills covered.
(Optional) Preview Questions: Click the "Preview" button to see a sample of 5 questions (remember, students will get different adaptive questions). Use "Next," "Back," and "Go Back" to navigate the preview.
Assign the Practice: This is crucial so it appears clearly on student dashboards! You have two ways:
Method 1 (Intervention Tab): Go to the "Intervention" tab within this placement lesson and click "Assign" next to each student's name.
Method 2 (Dashboard): Go to Dashboard > Practice Details. Select the Subject, go to the "Lesson" tab, find the Placement Unit Assessment tile, check the box next to "Students," and click "Assign".
How many times? You can assign the Adaptive Practice multiple times if you want to re-assess or track progress. Review scores in Practice Details or the Intervention tab.
