In this article, you will learn how to assign and pause ChalkTalk tests on testing days!
Unlocking Test Sections:
By default, the test will be locked even on the day the test is scheduled. For students to be able to begin the test, you have to assign it to them, section by section.
To unlock a test session, follow these steps:
Select the Tests tab.
Select Practice Test
Select the Assign icon next to the section you want to unlock for your students. Then select Confirm from the pop-up.
Please note the following:
You need to complete the first practice test before you can move on to the next. For a practice test to be complete, either all students have to complete the test or wait for the 2-week window to pass.
A test cannot be individually assigned to students. Once assigned, it will assign the testlet selected to all of the students in that section—unless they have already submitted the test.

Pausing Test Sections:
If you wish to close the testing session for your students, you can pause the test section.
Students will not lose their answers when you lock/pause the testing session. However, they will be kicked out from the test and you will need to unlock their test for them to be able to continue taking it. Read about the reset features here.
To pause a test section, follow these steps:
Select the Tests tab.
Select the Practice Test.
Select the Pause Exam icon next to the section you want to lock (pause) for your students.
Select Confirm from the pop-up to get a confirmation message.
